About our winery
Welcome to Montgomery Underground Winery
Our winery is located approximately 4.5 miles northwest of a little town called Elderton in the rolling hills of Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, USA. Elderton is between Kittanning and Indiana, along route 422.
Montgomery Underground Winery is owned and operated by Thomas and Della Montgomery. As residents of Plumcreek Township in Armstrong county, we’ve lived here most of our lives. Our home is built on a portion of the family farm. The winery is an addition to our home, which is underground, hence the reason for our name. Appreciating the blessings of our wonderful Creator, we want to share our little piece of the world with you.
We’ve enjoyed making wine. And while each wine is unique, so is the consumer. We get alot of requests for sweet wine and we feel you won’t be disappointed. Our fruit wines taste just like the ripe, juicy fruit they’re made from, while our grape wines are pleasing to the palate.
We like to stay as chemically free as possible. All of our wines are low in sulfites… You’ll taste the difference.
We started planting the vineyard in 2002. Every year we added to it and will continue adding more varieties until we complete our available acreage. Along with the vines, we are adding a nice selection of berries. We have taken great care to bring you a fine line of grape and fruit wines. All of our fruit is inspected for ripeness and quality. We use only the best fruit in our wines. We insist on a clean environment for the production and fermenting of our wines.
All of our fruit and grapes are “hand” picked, washed and crushed. We devote a lot of time and effort into making our wines.
